Jane is qualified at Master Black Belt level, with over 25 years’ experience working in Canada, the UK, Ireland and the USA. Her Lean facilitation work has involved using various Lean and Six Sigma tools and change management techniques on improvement initiatives that include projects across both the public and private sector. Jane trained as a registered general nurse (RGN) in London and then as a registered pediatric nurse (RSCN) gaining a postgraduate diploma in Emergency Nursing in 1992. She has worked in various operational and managerial positions, including Director of Critical Care and Trauma Services. Specializing in change management and people engagement, Jane has led numerous successful facilitation initiatives with diverse stakeholders from different disciplines and organizations. Her expertise and experience has enabled her to work effectively with front line staff, middle management, administrators, senior executives, service partners and community groups at organizational, regional and provincial levels to achieve positive and sustainable change.
As a member of the board of Rouge Valley Health Systems (RVHS) in Toronto, Jane sits on the Human Resources and Quality and Risk committees and, as a board member, contributes to the strategic management and financial stewardship of the health system. The quality and risk committee oversees the development of the Quality Improvement Plan for the RVHS as mandated under Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act (2010). Jane’s experience in strategic quality management in healthcare both in Canada and abroad provides valuable insight to the rest of the board and to the hospital senior management team.
